If you want to know just how hard it is to make it in America for talented Black students, professionals, and business owners, just take a look at the statistics. It’s beyond time for the harmful “bootstraps” myth to be replaced with ceaseless and unwavering support, so those with ambition can strive for the impossible and go beyond. Thurgood Marshall College Fund reminds us that once we reach our goals, we should always reach back and help others. We make sure that behind every “first” there are talented, ambitious people ready on deck, so they won’t be the last. We work hard each day so when someone like Kamala Harris asks, “Who’s next,” people with ambition and the unrelenting support from TMCF can confidently say, “I’m next.”

Building off the momentum of the successful Who’s Next campaign, Thurgood Marshall Asked us to create a bold new manifesto and rallying cry. I developed Challengers Wanted, a campaign rooted in the legacy of those who shattered the status quo like Thurgood Marshall, Shirley Chisholm, Elizabeth Eckford, turning their courage into a call to action. The work challenges the next generation not just to rise, but to disrupt, lead, and redefine what comes next.

Your sweat, your tears, your tenacity will not simply move you forward,
but move us all forward.

who created a goal that may never be reached,
but must never be relinquished.
